Switching From Medicare Advantage To Medicare Supplement
If you would like to switch from a Medicare Advantage plan to a Medicare Supplement, you usually have to during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period. This period is from October 15th to December 7th.
In most cases, you will have to go through Medical Underwriting to make this transition. This means an insurance company can look through your health history to determine if they will accept you.
Denials tend to happen if:
-
You have a major chronic condition such as MS, ALS or Alzheimer's
-
You have had a condition such as Cancer or a Heart Attack in the last 2-5 years
-
You have a surgery coming up that hasn't been completed
There are sometimes ways to skip medical underwriting using something called Guaranteed Issue. Your ability to use Guaranteed Issue is often tied to the state you live in and your particular situation.

Medicare Advantage and Part D Evaluations
Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D plans change immensely year over year.
Medicare Advantage plans could see changes to provider networks, copays, out-of-pocket maxes, secondary benefits, and drug formularies.
Medicare Part D plans could see changes to drug copays, pharmacy networks, drug formularies, and monthly premiums.
If you would like to look into switching these plans, in many cases you have to do so during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period. This takes place between October 15th to December 7th. Any changes will take effect on January 1st.
